Note: The original Cleveland Browns franchise moved to Baltimore in 1996 to become the Ravens. The 1999 Cleveland Browns expansion team inherited the old Browns' history and records, and the Ravens are treated as a new team established in 1996.
The Ravens were preceded in Baltimore by two separate Baltimore Colts franchises. The first Colts started in the All-America Football Conference in 1947, joined the NFL in 1950, and folded after one season. The second Baltimore Colts franchise was established in 1953 and won three NFL championships before moving to Indianapolis in 1984.
